The California Cup League is an elite league
to offer high level game competition to interested clubs. This
league spans over the five California Zones of USA Water Polo and
will allow for at large teams to compete if possible.
Last years'
participating clubs: CHAWP, Commerce, LAWPC, San Diego Shores, Los
Al, Santa Barbara, SoCal, Rosebowl, SET, Northwood, Foothill, ORWP.
The 2009-10 California Cup competition will consist of the top club
teams in all age groups, 10 mixed through 18 boys and girls. A
second division will be added at certain levels based on
participation in the league. League play will determine which teams
will play in a final California Cup Championships. The top teams
from the south and the top from the north will automatically
qualify. The remaining spots will be decided by committee members.
The final tournament results will be considered for seeding the 2010
United States Club Water Polo Championships

- For initial brackets, the
teams are listed in alphabetical order.
- In some cases after the games
have been scheduled out, but before they have been played, some
teams interchanged bracket positions based on locale or other
conflicts.
- Most of the age groups will
go an initial round robin, then if more than one division bottom
two and top two interchange for 2-day tournament formatt, one
for each division within that age group.
- 14U Girls is single flight of
round robin; others will play round robin then play
single-elimination tournament to get all of their games
completed.
- Note! Since this is a
multi-zonal league, every attempt is made to accommodate the
teams travelling the furthest!
- Some teams may have an ideal
schedule with plenty of rest, some with less rest, and for some
travelling not in an ideal manner, etc.
- PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT EVERY
ATTEMPT WILL BE MADE TO EQUALLY BENEFIT EACH TEAM THROUGHOUT THE
LEAGUE. Obviously this cannot occur on the same or single day.
- Please also understand that
some teams may travel more simply based on their locale.
- Schedules will be posted and
updated as soon as is possible, based on the information and
availability supplied by the hosts.

Referees:
The purpose of the California Cup League is to
elevate water polo play and the referees who are calling our games.
It is the league’s desire to afford coaches with the opportunity
after each game to discuss calls and non-calls with the referees; we
will pay more for referees to allow us this mentoring process. We
will try to have a meeting with the referees prior to the start of
each day to promote a better understanding of game play.
